Spain and Madrid are the favorite Erasmus countries and cities

3 Spanish cities are among the top 10 preferred destinations for students going on an Erasmus which makes Spain the most popular country for European students. Madrid came in first place as the best Erasmus city according to the study of over 26,000 European students carried out by Uniplaces, an online accommodation portal for international students. It is followed by Seville and Barcelona in fifth and seventh place respectively, further highlighting the popularity of Spain among students. Madrid, Seville and Barcelona all rank above other common Erasmus destinations such as Rome, Milan, Paris and Warsaw. Mariano Kostelec, co-founder of Uniplaces, affirmed that “Spain is the country that receives the most Erasmus students every year so it isn’t surprising that three cities were amongst the more popular destinations. The weather, the positive reception of students here, nightlife and our cultural richness are just some of the reasons why students pick Spain over alternative destinations.”
