Iberia hopes to bring 50,000 visitors from China to Spain with their new Shanghai route.

The launch of a direct connection between Shanghai and Madrid has marked a historical moment for Iberia. Luis Gallego, the CEO, remarked shortly after the arrival of the first flight from Shanghai to Madrid that, whilst it is a complicated market, it has huge growth potential. The airline will offer both leisure and business travellers 46,000 seats in each direction per annum (92,000 in total). In 2015 almost 400,000 Chinese tourists visited Spain and Iberia now hopes to see an increase in this figure. Luis Gallego also noted that the new route will not only act as a bridge between China and Spain but also further afield to wider Asian, European and even Latin American destinations. https://twitter.com/investinmadrid/status/748638473217773568
